CONNECTION GROUP RESOURCES
Connection Builders
-What is one quality you admire in a leader? This could be someone in your life or even a well-known figure.
-If there's one question you could ask God about the world right now, what would it be?
Sermon Questions
Pray for our Leaders.
According to 1 Timothy 2:1-2, why does Paul emphasize praying for those in authority?
How does Psalm 2:10-11 frame our understanding of leaders who may not follow God's ways?
What would it mean to truly desire God’s best for the leaders we may struggle to trust? How can we navigate these feelings and bring them to God?
Educate Yourself.
Read 1 Peter 2:9-12. How does understanding our identity as God's chosen people and as royal priests influence our approach to leadership and authority?
Discuss the Jim Morrison quote, "Whomever controls the media controls the mind." How can this idea affect our role in seeking truth and being discerning? Share how you have educated yourself regarding the election.
Submit to God's Plan.
How does Jesus' example in Luke 22:42 ("not my will, but Yours be done") set a standard for us in difficult times?
Romans 13:1-7 and 1 Peter 2:13-25 both speak about submission to ruling authorities. What does submission to authority look like when we disagree with leadership?
Think of a time you faced a situation where God allowed something to happen in your life that was hard to accept. How did you respond? What, if anything, helped you see God’s hand in it?
Closing Reflection and Prayer
What’s one thing God is stirring in your heart as we close tonight? (Encourage each person to share a closing thought, and end in prayer, asking God to deepen each member’s desire to follow Christ fully—in prayer, wisdom, and trust.)
